Click for audio: The Prayer of Prosperity Part 2
Because the issue of prosperity and its relationship to the spiritual path is an important one, I was asked if I would elaborate on it further.
The main concern most of us have with the spiritual approach to prosperity is the constant change and bombardment of information from the material level. While we accept that we are spiritual beings engaged in a human/material experience, the bulk of our attention goes to the material aspect. The temptation, then, is to begin thinking that our main goal in gaining spiritual understanding is to better control the material side of our experience. With many, the tail, it seems, wags the dog.
The spiritual awakening is not the means to the end of a more prosperous, healthy, or orderly life; it is an end in itself. When Jesus said to seek first the kingdom, I believe he was pointing to the importance of truly knowing ourselves as spiritual beings, not burdened with material needs, but already free. In other words, he was placing the priority on the spiritual experience, exposure to our present spiritual completeness. This exposure allows us to approach our material issues from a point of strength rather than from a perpetual, reactionary position of weakness.
As we examine our present approach to prosperity from a spiritual perspective, we will likely find that we are no closer to resolving the prosperity issue than ever. In addition, we will probably also find that we hold an image of ourselves reaching the point of spiritual enlightenment where our material issues are permanently resolved. If you’ve ever worked a jigsaw puzzle, you start with a full picture on the box. This picture helps us fit all the pieces together.
Experiencing the soul through meditation provides us with the whole picture of who and what we are. Otherwise, we stand outside the soul’s sanctuary trying to piece together a puzzle without knowing what we’re trying to accomplish.
Regardless of your present material needs, take time to be still with the single intention of entering the sanctuary of your soul. This is not an either/or issue. The material level is important and the pieces need to fit together. Make your priority getting the big picture first, seek first your inner kingdom, and see how the pieces begin to fall in place.
Thanks – I’ll try that. Otherwise, I’ll ask my 4th grade grandson for help!
Now that’s sound advice.
I sought advice from Brian, my internet provider ‘guru” who looked into the foreward I sent from my “Unity Talks Online” email and this was his reply:
Jackie – I can’t even get to that website unitygj.org
I did some looking at it and it says that it is a non-existent domain.
I think that something is wrong with their DNS settings?

Since it seems I’m the only one affected, then it must be something on my end. Thanks for your help/replies – sorry to take up your time with this tech problem. I’ll keep trying.
Try going directly to the talks site and see what happens: https://unitychurch.wordpress.com/
The site is visible and, obviously, active as I am able to comment. It is the audio link which seems not to be accessible. Not being very tech savvy, I’m not sure what is going on.
The Talks Online are coming thru my email – when I clicked just now on unitygj.org I got this:This webpage is not available
ERR_NAME_NOT_RESOLVED
Jackie, I have five computers/devices in my household and I was able to get the audio to come up on them all. The problem is probably in your server. You might try shutting off your computer/devices and restarting them. I’m not too tech savvy either, so I’m not a good one to ask on some issues like this.
On my PC it says: This webpage is not available
It further states:
The server at unitygj.org can’t be found, because the DNS lookup failed. DNS is the network service that translates a website’s name to its Internet address. This error is most often caused by having no connection to the Internet or a misconfigured network. It can also be caused by an unresponsive DNS server or a firewall preventing Google Chrome from accessing the network.
I’m not sure what is going on. The site does show activity and even displayed the message: “your stats are booming.” I’m curious how you are able to comment if “unitygj.org” can’t be found? How are you seeing the site and commenting?
For some reason I am no longer able to open the audio portion of your weekly Talks Online. Most likely the problem is on my end, but has there been a change in how they are being sent out? My iPAd message is “Safari cannot open the page because the server cannot be found” and my PC message states something similar. This has just begun in the past three/four weeks.
Hmm. There is nothing different on this end. I am able to open it and I have had no other complaints. If anyone is having trouble listening to the audio, please let me know and I’ll contact WordPress.
