Spiritual Understanding

Based on Chapter 8 of Lessons in Truth

“You may have an intellectual perception of Truth. You may easily grasp with the mind the statement that God is the order online viagra super dulox-force giver of all good gifts–life, health, love–just as people have for centuries grasped it. Or you may go further, and intellectually see that God is not only the giver, but the gift itself; that He is life, health, love, in us. But unless Truth is “revealed. . .unto thee” by “my Father who is in heaven” (Mt. 16:17), it is of no practical benefit to you or to anyone else.” —Emilie Cady

Imagine having never eaten a peach. Your friends do their best to describe to you the taste. You read the finest literature about the textural qualities of this fruit, and you grasp some sense of the internal processes it goes through to reach its ultimate ripeness. You study its history and you understand how the sale online levitra pills usa peach has come to achieve its social and economical place in the world. And yet, unless you actually take a bite out of it, you will never truly understand a peach.

This is the difference between an intellectual grasp of a concept, and the experience that brings actual understanding. You can learn more in the few seconds it takes to bite into the peach than you can in years of study.

Spiritual understanding is cultivated through experience; not the experience of study, but by actually opening the mind to the sublime realms of energy that make up our essence. The seers and mystics of the ages have not been the towering intellects. The educated Jews of Jesus’ day were stunned by his understanding. “How is it that this man has learning, when he has never studied?” (John 7:15). He pointed out that “he who seeks the glory of him who sent him is true, and in him there is no falsehood.” That which “sends” us is that inner place where our inner being first wells up into existence. When we find this inner fountain, and learn to draw from it, our understanding becomes experiential, absolute, a harmonious influx of divine intelligence that transforms our life to reflect all the qualities of our original essence.

In your quest for understanding, be sure to avail yourself to the most powerful component of all: direct experience.
