Click for audio: Reality Beyond Awareness
All the cialis kaufen deutschland gods, all the heavens, all the hells are within you. — Joseph Campbell
While I agree with the general premise of Campbell’s thought, it is important for us to make a distinction between perceptions that float through our field of awareness and the deeper reality that is often excluded from this field. If you think of your awareness as a circle of light created by a spotlight, you know there is more that is unseen outside this illuminated area. What we often think of as reality is simply that which falls within this circle. As we would not say that a cup of water drawn from the ocean is the ocean, so we should take care to note our perceptions of the gods, the heavens and the hells abide in us as limited fragments of a deeper reality.
Walt Whitman wrote of a child who asked, “What is grass?” Among the acheter kamagra 100mg answers he gives, he writes,
I guess it is the handkerchief of the Lord, A scented gift and remembrancer designedly dropped, Bearing the owner’s name someway in the corners, that we may see and remark, and say Whose?
An inquiry into the composition of a blade of grass is not confined to the blade itself but must also include our nearest star, the sun. The blade would not be without the sun. And even this does not encompass that mysterious living force that tends to the smallest needs of this tiny being.
A sincere contemplation of all that occupies our field of awareness, including ourselves, ultimately leads to a much larger, universal context. In whatever form our cup of water takes, we must assume there is an ocean attached, that there is more to everything than that which falls into our circle of light. It is in our openness to this fact that the possibilities for our life expand. God is not confined to our sum of beliefs and neither are we. Our true essence is grounded in a Reality beyond our general awareness. Open your mind to this truth, and watch your circle of awareness expand.
