I employed it as a visual transition for funeral congregations shifting from talking about the deceased to sharing in the crossover moment. This is as near as most of us get to a guided transition. I have a hunch that our fear of death is basically our fear of the unknown. As the shadows flow over us we discover the unchanging center that knows us and is known by us as it holds us fast, or gently guides us through the dark valleys.
