Click for audio: Who I Am

There is no evidence that Jesus either defined or considered himself as a type man, i.e., a person exemplifying the acheter du viagra a marseille ideal or defining characteristics of the human species. To the contrary, he appeared to believe that the things he was doing others could do and even greater things (John 14:12). If anything, he seemed to be lifting the general understanding of the average individual by pointing out that, resting one’s being on the foundation of the Infinite, the greatest demonstration made by one may be duplicated and even surpassed by others. This does not mean that everyone should be a Jesus, a Di Vinci, a Rembrandt, a Mozart, an Einstein or a Gandhi; quite the opposite. Though imitation may be interpreted as the sincerest form of flattery, the need to practice it flows from the viagra australia pharmacy self-image rather than from the soul of the imitator. Every soul is its own gift. A self-image attempting to reflect the light of another soul conceals the light of its own soul behind the mirror that it must carry.

When reading of Jesus’ demonstrations, we must take care that we do not set our benchmark of spiritual achievement at a level where performing miracles becomes the hoped-for norm. Do not measure your spiritual understanding on the basis of whether or not you can walk on water, multiply loaves and fishes or revive a corpse three days dead. It is much more productive to take your eye off all comparisons to others and allow your own process to unfold unhindered by such preconceptions. I think Jesus himself was issuing this warning with these words: “Foxes have holes, and birds of the air have nests; but the Son of man has nowhere to lay his head” (Matthew 8:20). The foxes and birds have known destinations. Where your unique spiritual path will take you is not so easily defined. If you have your eye on a target set up by another, you are the fox with the hole, the bird with the nest. It is far better to think of yourself on a path totally unique to you, one whose destination has no precedent. Your soul is its own leading edge, a truth you can never know through imitation.
